New Phone, Moto E40, and a hint of another 5G Motorola phone

Motorola Moto E40

From Moto G40 to Moto G20 to other 5G smartphones, Motorola has launched a series of smartphones this year and is about to add one more to this list!

Motorola unveiled Moto E40, their latest entry-level smartphone, in India on 12th October as the latest E-series model from the brand owned by Lenovo. The smartphone is a budget device that comes with a high refresh rate, 90 Hz display, 20:9 aspect ratio, and a 6.5-inch Max Vision HD+ IPS display.

The Moto E40 has an IP52 water repellent certification and a 5,000mAh battery, which the company claims is good for 76 hours of music streaming, 14 hours of video streaming, and up to 10 hours of website browsing.

As for security, it has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options in this smartphone include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio, and a USB Type-C port. Sensors onboard include an accelerometer, ambient light, and proximity sensor.

Moto E40 also comes packed with a great camera set-up. It has a triple rear camera setup that houses a 48-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.79 lens, along with a 2-megapixel depth sensor with an f/2.4 lens and a 2-megapixel macro shooter. The rear cameras support features including Portrait mode, Panorama, Face Beauty, HDR Night Vision, Macro Vision, and a Pro Mode.

For selfies and group chats, the Moto E40 comes with an 8-megapixel selfie camera sensor at the front, with an f/2.0 lens on top.

It also has a dedicated Google Assistant Key on the right side, similar to the one seen on Moto G30.

The Motorola Moto E40 costs Rs 9,499 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. It comes in Carbon Grey and Pink Clay colors and will go on sale at 12 am on 17th October from Flipkart. This price is after a special offer of Rs 1,500.

On a related note, another new smartphone, Moto G51 5G was first spotted on benchmarking website Geekbench and is supposedly an advanced version of Moto G50 5G, which was launched globally this August. The key difference between the two being that Moto G50 5G had used a Dimensity processor, but Moto G51 5G could use Qualcomm Snapdragon as its processor.

Just recently, Motorola made its Edge 20 series official in both Indian and foreign markets. The Edge 20 series boasted three smartphones, Edge 20, Edge 20 Pro, and Edge 20 Fusion.

In the Geekbench listing, Moto G51 5G is powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon processor instead of the Density 700 SoC used by its predecessor Moto G50 5G. It is reported that this change in a processor could be due to the shortage of the Density processor.
Moto G51 5G is expected to come in two variants, one with 4GB of RAM, another with 6GB of RAM.

This smartphone will run on Android 11 out of the box and will have an Android 12 update soon. This budget/mid-range smartphone may be priced under Rs. 15,000, making it an affordable 5G smartphone.

Motorola can launch this device by the end of this year but it is not clear whether they will launch this smartphone in India or not.
